Creative Writing from 1996

I wrote this in my creative writing class during my senior year of high school. One of the few assignments that I was proud of and I got a good grade to reflect that!

Boredom

Boredom is the black hole that is in the back of your mind. It is the act of counting all those little black dots on the ceiling. It is seeing the back of your eyelids. Boredom is when you don't understand anything that your teacher has said the last twenty minutes of class. It is the point between being awake and being asleep. Boredom makes the time crawl as slowly as a snail. It is when everything that you look at is fuzzy and dull. It makes you wonder what the point of being where you are is. Boredom lets you read the writing on the back of the desk in front of you and wonder whether or not those people have ever been in the same position you are in now. Boredom is those chain-link drawings you doodled all over your paper and desk. Boredom is a state of dreams, where anything can happen. And boredom is when you start to ask yourself and others around you, "When will this class be over?"

My creative writing teacher gave me an A- for that. I think I did a good job. :o)
